Landover, MD, June 1, 2009 – The PGA Tour’s Nationwide Tour has returned to Prince George’s County for its third consecutive year. June 1-7, The Melwood Prince George’s County Open will be held at the Country Club at Woodmore located in Mitchellville, MD. The Woodmore course is ranked eighth in the Mid-Atlantic region by Golf Digest.

This golf tournament will be televised by the Golf Channel and will host 156 professionals competing for a $675,000 purse with the winner receiving $121,500.

The Prince George’s County Melwood Open is much more than a golf tournament it is an event that raises non-profit funds and brings together the Washington DC metro area community. During this week long tournament various community events will be hosted including a high school tournament and junior clinic, multiple Pro-Am events, a private sponsor’s party at Six Flags’ and various other social events.

Ascellon Corporation is one of the proud sponsors of the Melwood Prince George’s County Open.  The event benefits Melwood, a non-profit serving more than 2,100 people with disabilities with job training, employment, community living and recreation in the Washington DC area.
