CompTech Associates Wins CMS Contract for Federal Monitoring and Oversight of Psychiatric Hospitals
Monday, September 29, 2003 Comp-Tech Associates, Inc. (CompTech), won a five-year contract totaling nearly $12 million from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for Federal monitoring and oversight services in psychiatric hospitals.
To ensure basic protections for patient health and safety, CompTech will travel onsite to conduct surveys of psychiatric hospitals to determine compliance with Hospital Conditions of Participation in Medicare, namely requirements for medical records and staffing to validate patients active treatment program. Psychiatric hospitals are required to maintain clinical records regarding the degree and intensity of treatment provided to patients and to meet staffing requirements to carry out an active treatment program for each patient. Approximately 450 psychiatric hospitals participate in Medicare nationally, ranging in size from six to 800 certified beds. CompTech also recently won a similar contract from CMS for Federal monitoring and oversight services in long-term care facilities.
